Who are we at Wandr?

We’re a small team of travellers obsessed with finding the most incredible experiences in the Balkans. From hopping on a boat to hidden beaches near Budva, to paddling through endless water lilies on Lake Skadar, joining a home-style cooking class in Tirana, or sipping wine right in the vineyards of Berat, we’ve tried it all.

We built Wandr to share those hard-earned local insights so other travellers can discover experiences that are genuinely worth their time. Because in the end, it’s not the plane or the hotel that makes a trip unforgettable, it’s the adventures you have and the people you meet along the way!

Our curation process

We don't just pick what looks good from behind our laptop: we actually go on the field, so we are 100% sure we handpick the best guides and experiences.

Deep research

Before we add any experience, we do our homework! We ask ourselves: Is it a tourist trap? What makes it unique? What makes the host the best at what he/she does?

Meet the host

You know what makes an amazing experience? A passionate host. That's why we spend time with them to understand what drives them and to ensure they love what they do!

Test experiences

We don’t just list experiences and call it a day, we try them all ourselves! That way, we can genuinely stand behind every experience on Wandr and even suggest tweaks to make them even better.

Why does every experience have such a high rating?

The reason is simple: we refuse to settle for average. Every host on Wandr has proven they can offer consistently excellent service, and that shows up in their reviews. The moment an experience starts getting so-so feedback, it’s out. You’re here for something special, and we won’t waste your time on anything less!

What do I get with Wandr that I wouldn’t with cheaper tours?

Large group tours just aren’t our thing. Our experiences are kept small or completely private, and hosted by locals who know all the spots that don’t make it into the typical guidebook. Where cheaper tours hit the standard checklist, we go for deeper, more authentic adventures. If escaping the crowds and getting a more personal feel sounds great, you’re at the right place!

Why are certain popular experiences not featured on Wandr?

We’re picky on purpose, nothing slips in by chance. So if you don’t see a big-name activity here, it’s often intentional. Either it screamed “tourist trap” or fell short on quality. Our priority is authentic, high-quality adventures, not overcrowded attractions. If it’s not on Wandr, it’s probably not the best use of your time.
