Discover the Tara River Canyon in one of the most exciting and personal ways possible: in your own packraft. This adventure is designed for travelers who want freedom, scenery, movement, and a closer connection with the river than traditional rafting can offer.
As summer water levels drop, large rafting boats can feel slower and less dynamic. That is when packrafting becomes the perfect choice. Sitting low on the water in a stable inflatable craft, you paddle through clear pools, playful rapids, hidden beaches, and dramatic canyon sections surrounded by forest, cliffs, and untouched wilderness.
Meet your guide in Žabljak or at your accommodation, then transfer toward the river with a photo stop at the famous Đurđevića Tara Bridge. Before entering the water, receive your packraft, equipment, safety briefing and paddling instructions. The guides will help you feel confident even if this is your first time in a packraft.
There are 2 tour options:
1) Half-Day Packrafting Tour to Žugića Luka - 12 km
This shorter route is ideal for guests who want a compact but adventurous Tara experience. After the introduction, paddle from Splavište toward the Ljutica River. The first section is mostly class II rapids, giving you time to get comfortable with the packraft while surrounded by canyon scenery. Stop at the Ljutica River, a powerful spring river only around 270 meters long, for swimming, photos, and a short walk around the spring area. After a snack and refreshment break, continue from Ljutica to Žugića Luka, a faster and more exciting section with class II and occasional class III rapids. At the take-out, change into dry clothes, pack the gear, and transfer back to Žabljak.
2) Full-Day Packrafting Tour to Radovan Luka - 23 km
The full-day option continues deeper into the Tara Canyon for a longer, more immersive river journey. Over ~23 km, spend around 6 hours by the river depending on water levels. The second half of the day becomes more active, with faster current, class II rapids, occasional class III rapids, and the feeling of traveling deep into one of Montenegro’s most spectacular natural landscapes before finishing at Radovan Luka and transferring back.
Both options are guided by experienced local river guides who adapt the pace to the group. Whether you are a complete beginner, a nature lover, a family with adventurous energy, or someone with previous whitewater experience, this tour offers a rare way to experience the Tara River: close to the water, active, wild, and personal.

Hey! I’m Baki, your river guide and the person who’ll be cheering the loudest when you nail your first set of rapids. I love packrafting because it’s the perfect mix: you get the freedom of paddling your own craft, but you’re never left to figure it out alone.
My style is simple: clear instructions and calm energy. I’ll keep you on the best lines, point out the hidden swim spots, and make sure you end the day tired in the good way: happy, proud, and already planning your next river!

We spent half a day in a nice small group. The rafting was a fun and memorable experience. I enjoyed both the calm currents and the bigger rapids. Beginner level though. Even falling didn't bother me as I had an expert and knowledgeable guide with me. I highly recommend it.

We spent a half-day packrafting tour with Mio on the Tara. The 12-kilometre route was super beautiful and easy to do (even for beginners). Mio explained a lot to us, gave us helpful tips and guided us through the day with a lot of humour. A clear recommendation!
