Vanja was so knowledgeable about the history of Kotor, Montenegro and the region. I learned a lot and he expressed every "fact" with authenticity. The views and setting are of course outstanding. Kayaking the bay was unforgettable (though extremely hot this time of the year!)
Brilliant morning with Vanja. He has a comprehensive and interesting understanding of the history of Kotor and Montenegro and imparted that well to us. The trip included a boat trip to the Our Lady of the Rocks island church, which he gave us a fully guided tour, then we canoed across the lake and finally cycled to see another church and get some great views of the lake. Vanja also helped us arrange taxis (completely outside his remit, but something we are very grateful that he did). Altogether the best trip of the 3 that we did (probably didn't need the other 2 in hindsight as this trip covered it all). Completely recommend this to any travellers.
We had a fabulous activity filled day with an informative boat ride to Lady of the Rock and interesting history with village of Perast and island. 3€ to go inside the monastery but worth it. From there, a boat ride back to Kotor to a bike ride away from Kotor with beautiful bay scenery and if desired, a 15 min cool down swim.. refreshing! We return our bikes and kayak for maybe 40 minutes, comfortably and scenic! A well worth activity tour and our guide was historically informative, helpful and made the experience fun! We highly recommend this excursion!
Having visited Kotor once before and fallen in love with its charm, we knew we had to return for another adventure. This time, we booked a private tour with Kotor Bay Tours, and once again, the experience exceeded all expectations.
Vladimir was quick to respond by email when we were booking the tour, answering our questions promptly and providing suggestions for the tour as we built a private itinerary. From start to finish, our guide, Vanja, was a wealth of knowledge, professional, personable, and deeply passionate about Kotor. His insights into the city’s rich history and local culture made every moment of our tour even more memorable.
Our adventure began with a private boat ride to the picturesque town of Perast. Strolling through its historic streets, soaking in the timeless beauty, and grabbing a coffee at a charming local café was the perfect start. The tranquility of the town, coupled with fascinating historical tidbits, made the experience feel like stepping back in time.
Next, we took a boat back to begin our kayak journey in the breathtaking Bay of Kotor. The calm, warm waters and the beautiful views were a great way to experience the bay. After our time on the water, we transitioned to a cycling tour, stopping at a viewpoint near a church dating back to 1900. The panoramic views of the bay from this spot were unforgettable.
Continuing on our ride, we paused at a local restaurant for a refreshing beer break taking in the surroundings while savoring the relaxed atmosphere of the region. The cycling journey led us back to Old Town, where we had time to explore its medieval streets, packed with charming shops, restaurants, and hidden treasures. No visit would be complete without a stop at Forza Café for a slice of Dobrotska cake one of my personal favorites and a delicious treat to wrap up the day.
This was our second excursion with Kotor Bay Tours, and both experiences have been fantastic. If you’re looking for an active, exciting, and immersive way to explore Kotor, I cannot recommend this tour and company enough. Whether it’s your first or second time visiting, Vladimir, Vanja and the Kotor Bat Tours team will ensure an unforgettable adventure filled with history, beauty, and local delights. We’ll definitely be back again!
