Biogradska Gora National Park

The park is home to the Biogradsko Lake, a pristine glacial lake casting perfect reflections of the surrounding ancient forest. You can rent boats or kayaks to better explore the lake. Note that the water levels in the lake might be low during August-September

The park boasts one of the few remaining primeval forests in Europe, with trees over 500 years old and towering up to 60m. This ancient woodland is a haven for nature lovers and a critical habitat for various wildlife species. The area is a designated UNESCO Biosphere Reserve due to its ecological significance

Numerous trails wind through the park, ranging from easy walks around the lake (3.5km loop) to challenging hikes up to the Zekova and Crna peaks

For a real adventure, consider staying in a katun, a traditional Montenegrin shepherd’s hut, for the night. There are lots of them within the park, and today they serve as lodging for hiking enthusiasts

There is a small 4€ entrance fee for the park, which goes towards its maintenance and conservation efforts. While the park is accessible from the town of Kolašin, public transportation options are limited. Visitors often need a car to reach the park conveniently
