Bobotov Kuk

There are 2 main ways to hike up to Bobotov Kuk: via Sedlo, from which the hike takes 3h (one-way), and via Žabljak, where the one-way journey takes around 6h. Some people also return to Sedlo (if they have their own car) while others start in Sedlo and then hike down to Žabljak

The path via Sedlo is very well marked and takes you through lush grasslands and alongside lakes before you reach the gruelling climb to the saddle. It is technical at times and has many steep parts. There is ample parking at Sedlo and a little desk that is set up in the morning where you will need to pay the park entry fee of €5 / person

Following the trail from Žabljak both ways will involve a 24km return with a long uphill slog towards the summit and far more difficult terrain. Hikers sometimes struggle to follow the trail and end up wasting time. The return hike takes around 10h with an ascent of over 1,000 m. An early start and a reasonable level of fitness are recommended if you’re planning to tackle this route

In winter this peak is shrouded in a blanket of white snow, so don’t even think about attempting the hike at this time of year. Note that, even during summer, it can be dangerous if it’s windy because you are close to the edge at the end
