The Kotor Serpentine Road (part of the P1 regional road) is one of the most famous and harrowing scenic drives in Montenegro. It connects the coastal town of Kotor to the mountain village of Njeguši and the Lovćen National Park. It is famous for providing a panoramic view of the entire Bay of Kotor

Avoid the road between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. This is when tour buses from cruise ships attempt the climb. Two buses meeting on a 5-meter-wide hairpin is a recipe for a 45-minute traffic jam that requires someone to reverse toward a cliff edge.

The Kotor-Lovćen Cable Car is the best "non-scary" alternative. It takes you from the coast to the top in 11 minutes for about €23–€30 (round trip), bypassing the road entirely while giving you the same view

Located near the top, Horizont bar is famous for its "view with a coffee" and also organises parties with live DJs in summer

The road was an engineering marvel commissioned by the Austro-Hungarian Empire in the 1880s to provide a wagon route between the coast and the old royal capital of Cetinje.
