Set out across Lake Skadar and discover a quieter, more intimate side of the national park on a guided small-boat tour built around the lake’s most atmospheric scenery. After departure, your route takes you past Lesendro Fortress and onward toward three well-known islands, where broad stretches of water lilies begin to spread across the lake. The scenery opens and closes around you in turns: wide water under the sky, then greener, narrower passages that feel almost secret.
What makes this tour special is the boat itself. It is smaller and more agile than most lake boats, but it is not a speedboat and it is not operated as a noisy thrill ride. In the open parts of the lake, your skipper may move a little faster than larger boats simply to shorten the crossing and save more time for the best section of the experience. If you choose the extended option, the tour continues beyond the Amazon channels to the historic fishing village of Karuč. Tucked between hills and water, Karuč has a very different character: quiet, traditional, and full of stories. After arriving, you’ll take a short walk of around 10 minutes to a viewpoint above the village, where you can pause for photos and enjoy the peaceful setting from above.

We took a private boat tour with Milan and it was really great, despite of a bit cold weather in October. Milan is very friendly and talkative, loves sharing the information and his passion to the lake and with the speed boat he took us around places even more distant from Virpazar. The boat tour was defitnitely our best experience during stay at Skadar Lake, fully worth the price :)

Superb tour over Lake Skadar! Glad we took the speedboat tour so we could see a bigger part of the lake. Milan was very enthusiastic and told a lot. He took the time to answer our questions about the area, and to spot the kingfishers in the Amazon. This activity was one of the highlights of our trip in Montenegro!

The boat tour of Lake Skadar with Milan was an experience we will always remember. That can be attributed to Milan, the best captain one could ask for! Absolutely recommend booking through him. We particularly recommend a sunrise boat tour. Milan is very passionate about the lake and its history, as well as the many birds that live on it. We saw lots of rare king fishers and learnt how to spot them from afar. Milan even took us to pick some water chestnuts which was fantastic!
