One of the best ways to explore Piva Lake is from the water. Boat tours depart from Plužine, the main town on the lake, and stop at hidden caves and swimming spots

Piva Lake is a massive, high-altitude artificial reservoir that fills the depths of the Piva Canyon, characterized by an intense turquoise color and surrounded by sheer limestone cliffs. It is the largest freshwater reservoir in Montenegro and serves as a hub for boating, kayaking, and visiting historic monasteries
The Piva Monastery originally stood 9km away at the source of the Piva River, but it was threatened by the construction of the Mratinje Dam in the 1970s. In a monumental feat of preservation, a team of experts spent 12 years moving the entire monastery (including 1,260 square meters of frescoes) stone by stone to its current location to save it from being submerged forever
